Celebrating Recovery from Drug Addiction

A conference, comedy night and awards presentation are among the highlights of International Recovery Month 2015 organised by Soilse, the HSE drug rehabilitation programme based in Dublin’s north inner city.

Celebrated around the world each September, International Recovery Month shows that people with drug addiction problems can and do recover from chronic substance abuse and go on to build healthy lives. It challenges the stigma around drug addiction and gives hope to drug users, their families and communities struggling with addiction.

Soilse works closely with recovering drug users and has been to the forefront in efforts to promote recovery and sustainable drug-free lifestyles.

This year, Soilse will either host or support a week-long series of events. They include:

4th Annual Recovery Walk organised by the Recovery Foundation

22 September, 1pm

Soilse, Henrietta Place, Dublin 7

Presentation of QQI/FETAC awards to participants on Soilse’s programme by Lord Mayor of Dublin Críona Ní Dhálaigh followed by a barbecue

23 September, 11am-1pm

MACRO building, North King Street, Dublin 7

A coffee morning celebrating women in recovery organised by the Snug Counselling Service, Soilse and the Gateway Women’s Project

24 September, 9.30am-1 pm

Aisling Hotel, Parkgate Street, Dublin 7

A conference title Let’s Talk About Recovery 2 organised with the North West Inner City Network and Soilse

24 September, 8pm-10pm

East Wall Community Centre

Laughter in Recovery, a comedy night organised by Recovery Academy Ireland with special guests Willa White, Fred Cooke, John Colleary and Alan Norris.
