The RECOVEU project brings together partners from the United Kingdom, Cyprus, Romania, Italy and Ireland with the aim of developing access to learning resources for people in recovery from addiction.
The case of F. is a well known story for the educators of the Centre. She has haunted the Centre habitually since she was 12 years old. Her parents divorced when she was little. Her father went to live in the city with another woman, whilst she stayed with her mother, who has a psychiatric disorder. F. started right away to enact deviant behaviors.
The UK Recovery Charity Faces & Voices of Recovery (FAVOR UK) provide resources for people advocating for Addiction Recovery and support those who wish to share their own stories through Recovery Coaching and Advocacy. They organise the annual UK Recovery Walk, held this year in Durham where hundreds of people in Recovery from addiction walk together to share their stories and promote the fact that Recovery from addiction is possible.
A successful series of activities to celebrate and promote recovery from addiction took place in Dublin in September 2015 as part of International Recovery Month. They included a recovery walk, led by renowned Irish musician Christy Dignam from the band Aslan who has talked publicly about his own struggles with addiction.
